An Indian Star Among Suns is an historical novel about the Natchez Indians, who lived on the lower Mississippi until the French destroyed them in 1731. Brought to life again in this historically accurate book through Star Eyes, a fictional maiden eager for love, we discover her people and the Great Sun ruler, known for wise decisions but also for ordering human sacrifices. Belligerent French soldiers shatter this world just when Star Eyes has found two men to love, a virile warrior and a French Canadian fur trader. When the carnage begins, the Natchez win but later lose and flee to a swampy island where they exist until discovered. By then Star Eyes' parents are dead, like many others, and her lovers seem gone forever. Here Louis steps suddenly out of the crowd and saves Star Eyes with a shocking disclosure that allows Star Eyes, her baby Sun nephew, and Louis to find happiness in a Natchez French world of their own making.
